Larry D. Thomas is a regular contributor to RHP and recently sent me a set of poems, "Seven Deadly Sins," which wasn't quite enough poems to be a chapbook, but more poems that I'd normally accept from one author in an issue of RHP. Only by a hair. So, I said,

Later this year, late spring or early summer, we could do a special issue called "Texas." This would feature these 7 poems, plus another 10 to 12 poems by Texas poets. You could co-edit the issue with me, essentially "bringing along" the work of a few Texas poets you know and love for that issue.

Does that make sense and does that appeal to you?

It did make sense to Larry and appealed to him to boot. So here we are.

Larry's a very fine poet and a really nice guy. I'm always proud to present his work here and enjoyed this chance to work with him again. He did most of the work. That's my favorite way of working with someone.

So, thanks to Larry and to all the Texas poets he persuaded to participate in this project.
