Considering antiques and curiosities
In the back room of Foster’s Miscellany,
cardboard Glinda asks Are you a good
witch or a bad witch? as she rests
between a flying lizard and whore house coins.
Good for one screw, one stogie, one whiskey
announces the gold rush remnant. It turns out
the coins are replicas, not good for anything
but flexing the imagination of a
middle-aged woman. The lizard,
glued to board and under glass, reveals sails
of pleated skin, a long graceful tail,
and a desiccated body that used to glide
through the heated air of Papua New Guinea.
