What is remoteX4?
remoteX4 is a software and hardware combination that allows you to control audio and video devices (including Media Center PCs) through any web-enabled device.
Use your Wi-Fi enabled mobile phone, or your iPod Touch or iPad or other tablet or your laptop, netbook or tower PC and control your TV, AV Receiver, Cable Box, Playstation 3 and DVD/Blue Ray player in any room from any room.
Use your fingers on a touch sensitive device or the mouse and/or keys on a laptop or desktop PC. You can use gestures for an even smoother operation.
Control is separated into Zones and Activities. For your living room Zone, "Listen to FM Radio", "Watch Cable TV", "Watch DVD", "Listen My Music" could be some of the available Activities. Select an Activity Icon from the Activities Grid and all the relevant Devices are turned on, switched to the right input and your whole setup is ready for you to use it.
A screen with all commands relevant to this activity appears and you can, for example, select a channel to watch through the channel icons appearing on the screen. The interface is displayed as a grid of buttons and each button seamlessly controls the correct device for the current activity. A single click or tap can send one or multiple commands to one or more devices in your setup. All you have to worry about is choosing the correct button.
For general purpose functions such as Volume Adjustment, Channel Surfing, Navigation and Playback, you can instead use the Gestures mode interface. Do all of the above without even glancing at your remote device.
