Executive Education & Consultation

One of the most rewarding aspects of being an active researcher is putting the knowledge you generate into practice. There is nothing better than applying cutting edge theory to make a difference to people's lives. Examples of the areas in which I work are offered below (details limited by confidentiality).

Policy & Governmental

Research matters when it is put into practice. My work has informed national debates (MMR vaccine uptake), contributed to local and national policy (NYMNPA, DEFRA on wellbeing and national parks) and informed consulting work with organisations that include WHO, Department of Health, Public Health Nursing Leeds, Health Houses Teesside, and a range of NHS Trusts.

Business & Leaders

Executive education takes many forms. As director of both Executive and Online MBAs I have been fortunate to work with brilliant leaders and managers from banking, shipping, insurance, silicon tech, retail and SMEs. I have run immersion events in San Francisco, soft skills courses for corporate clients, bespoke degrees for international business, and delivered applied talks from Beijing to Sydney & St Louis. Work in these areas has spanned organisational culture, ethical responsibility, well-being, entrepreneurship, change management, globalisation and tackling toxic behaviours.

Charities & NGOs

Charities and Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) are an important part of our communities. There is so much we can learn from such agencies when it comes to different ways of organising, and so much we can give in terms the theory and practice of organising. I have been fortunate enough to work with organisations including Samaritans, the National Trust and Caritas. I have also led final year students in consultancy projects that have involved pro-bona analysis and recommendations to wonderful agencies such as Five Lamps, BikeStop & Ripon Rugby.

Work in this area has spanned organisational change, cultural challenges, business planning, organisational change, HRM practice and leading and managing volunteers.
