Retreat begins with a Welcome Dinner at 6 p.m. on Thursday; ends with a Grab-and-Go Lunch on Saturday.
This retreat is for college and university faculty. It is based on the philosophy that well facilitated shoptalk is one of the highest forms of professional development. No individual "expert" can match the collective knowledge, experience, wisdom, creativity, and genius of 30-40 teachers who are actively involved in their profession. The participants themselves are the experts at the retreat!
You will meet with other teachers from different disciplines and institutions, engage in highly interactive discussions, share successful teaching strategies and innovations, seek solutions to your own teaching problems and challenges, and much more (see instructions for Prior Preparation about what to bring to the retreat).
The retreat facilitators will provide structure and guidelines
to help assure effective use of retreat time, but you and the other participants will decide which issues are most important and relevant to discuss
. Together, we will pursue a quest for the ideal of the "great teacher." The Red Rock Great Teaching Retreat is based on the seminar model of the National Great Teachers Movement, founded in 1969 by David Gottshall. This movement continues to grow with workshops, retreats, and seminars held across the United States, Canada, and other parts of the world.
At the Red Rock Great Teaching Retreat, we will have great food, great conversation, and even a little free time for fun in some of the most spectacular, awe-inspiring red-rock country of Utah. You may decide to extend your stay over the weekend so you can spend more time in the area, perhaps visiting the nearby Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, Dead Horse Point State Park, and scenic locations used as backdrops for numerous movies and TV shows not far from Red Cliffs Lodge.

The Retreat Fee includes the following:
- 2 nights/3 days in private mini-suite at Red Cliffs Lodge (near Arches and Canyonlands National Parks)
- 6 meals and 3 refreshment breaks/snacks (dinner on Thursday evening through lunch on Saturday)
- Day and evening Retreat sessions
- Retreat supplies and support materials
EARLY REGISTRATION DISCOUNT
Fee payment must be received ON or BEFORE Wednesday, December 20, 2017.
EARLY GROUP RATE: $495 per person for team of SIX or more from same institution. Please arrange with your institution to pay with a single check, money order, or credit card for the team's total retreat fees.
EARLY INDIVIDUAL RATE: $545 per person
AFTER Wednesday, December 20, 2017, accepted as space permits.
REGULAR RATE: $595 per person
If a registered participant must cancel, an alternate from the same institution may attend instead. If no alternate is available, a refund (minus a $95 administrative fee per person) is available upon notification of the Retreat Coordinator by Wednesday, February 14, 2018. NO REFUNDS AFTER THAT DATE.
Group Registration: The retreat fees for SIX or more registrants from the same institution can be paid in a single transaction via an electronic invoice sent to a designated institutional representative. The invoice includes options to pay by credit card OR to send a check or money order by mail. Each participant in a group must still complete the online registration form to provide information needed to organize various retreat activities as well as to help us meet such personal needs as wheelchair access, dietary considerations, and so on.
Individual Registration: Within 48 hours of registering, you should receive an electronic invoice via email from Highroad Professional Development, LLC. The invoice includes options to pay by credit card using a secure, online payment system by
