Shortlist Nominations Open for 2011-2012
It's never too early to note down good books for the next year,
especially if a favorite of yours didn't make this year's list.
Remember -- books nominated for the 2011-2012 Red Dot Awards
must have been published in either
2008, 2009, 2010, or 2011.
View the books in the nomination database....
The shortlists will be announced in September 2011.
Our goal is to announce a long list (via the GoodReads group)
in early June for everyone (students, teachers, parents, etc.)
to read over June, July, and August.
Opinions will then be solicited
(either via the GoodReads Group or comments on this page)
for the Shortlist Committee to consider in September.
Everyone is welcome to nominate book titles for next year's shortlists via our GoodReads group. Read below.....
The four categories are:
Picture Book
Junior (where Captain Underpants and Geronimo Stilton are the assumed reading level)
Middle (where Inkheart and The Lightning Thiefare the assumed reading level)
Senior (where Twilight and The Book Thief are the assumed reading level)
Note that books must have been published within the past four years -- i.e., for 2011-2012 books must have been published in either 2008, 2009, 2010, or 2011.
We are particularly interested in books from a range of countries.
The shortlists will be determined in September by the Red Dot subcommittee of ISLN. That will give us more time to get the books in our libraries and in the hands of students.
(With thanks to the Panda Book Awards in China for the idea of using a GoodReads group as the mechanism for collecting book ideas from as many people as possible.)
The process:
First, get a GoodReads account for yourself -- at www.goodreads.com
Go to the Groups page and search for "Red Dot". (Click on images to enlarge)
Join the Red Dot Suggestions group
Search for a book and add it to the group bookshelf
Identify which category it might be good for
Add a review, if desired.
