Red Cross Daylily Farm is located a few miles south of Greensboro, North Carolina. After retiring from Military Service and moving to Raleigh, NC in 1998 we began collecting and raising Daylily Cultivars as a hobby. After a few years of landscape and pesticide training, we established AFC Group, Incorporated, as a small seasonal operation. In 2010, we relocated to the old farm home place in Red Cross, a suburb of Climax, NC and began doing business as Red Cross Daylily Farm. Although an aviation engineer, Stan grew up on a farm and Red Cross Daylily Farm serves to keep him busy, farm upkeep, and to supplement his retirement.
In 2018, we began transitioning our field beds to landscape beds. This transition will provide customers easier access to our product and how to use Daylily Cultivars in the landscape. Mutiple landscape beds and color and size combinations will also serve to show customers how to better accent business, curb appeal, and personal enjoyment by drawing attention to entrances or other areas with beautiful display of color.
Our nursery is inspected and licensed by the state of North Carolina. We develop plants for sale by plant division. In the early spring and fall we divide three year old plants. Most are transplanted into nursery beds and some are potted for sales. Our daylily inventory is at different stages of development throughout every year. Unusual weather and higher than normal sales can also impact sales inventory. For these reasons some cultivars seen at the nursery are for display and may not be for sale.
Daylily Cultivars are a Great Value. They are perennials! They generally reoccur and are cold hardy in the ground and easily divided for transplant into another bed or sharing with friends. Compared to others, they are generally low maintenance plants. With proper care, they are the gift that keeps on giving.
Daylily cultivars generally that bloom from spring to fall. Blooms generally begin to appear with the on set of 70 degree night time temperatures. Peak blooms in our area are generally during the month of June. We have a wide selection of colors and sizes. Depending on the cultivar, most of our plant divisions are sold as double fans. See examples of our flowers here. During the season "actual photos" and information are posted on our farm Facebook page.
