I am an assistant professor in the English Department at Florida State University. I research and teach 20th and 21st century American literature and culture, with particular interests in social and environmental justice movements, the environmental humanities, and speculative fiction and film. I received my PhD in English from Duke University in 2016 and have previously held tenure-track positions in the English departments of Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX and Winston-Salem State University. I was a 2015-2016 Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Completion Fellow and held a Mitchell J. Connell Foundation Fellowship at the Huntington Library in summer 2015, where I performed archival research in the Octavia E. Butler Papers.
