September, 2022 Our manuscript about the effect of coffee ground particle size on the adsorption rates and capacities of metal ions was accepted for publication in ACS Omega.

May, 2022 Olga Giza joined the lab.

June, 2021 Lauren Casper, Liz Gora, Victor Coll, and Sam Saldana joined the lab!

April, 2021 Dr. Sanders was honored with the 2021 Distinguished Teaching Award for Junior Faculty at North Central College.

January, 2021 Dr. Sanders and her husband welcomed another baby girl to their family.

July, 2020 Dr. Sanders completed beamtime remotely on beamline 13-IDE at the APS at Argonne National Lab.

February, 2020 Dr. Sanders became an En-ROADS Climate Ambassador.

September, 2019 Amelia Woods, Claudia Stanfa, and Tom Rohr joined the lab to conduct coffee research.

June, 2019 Hannah completed her honors thesis and graduated!

May, 2019 Steven and Abby presented their research at the ACS Great Lakes Regional Meeting in Lisle.

April, 2019 Hannah traveled to Orlando to present her honors thesis research at the National ACS meeting.

March, 2018 Hannah, Abby, and Dr. Sanders traveled to New Orleans to present research at the National ACS meeting.

Summer, 2017 The Sanders group has moved to the new Science Center. Their lab is in WSC 018. Abby Schwarz has joined the research group. We performed experiments at beamline 13-IDE at APS in mid-July.

August, 2017 Dr. Sanders and her husband welcomed a baby girl to their family.

December, 2017 Steven Eichinger joined our research group.

June, 2017 Congrats to David and Josh on graduating. David was the outstanding Chemistry major this year and also the student commencement speaker. Both now work at Solvay!

Spring, 2017 David, Hannah, and josh all presented posters at NCUR 2017 at the University of Memphis and at the Rall Symposium at North Central.

February, 2017 Dr. Sanders has a new publication.

September, 2016 David and Hannah presented a poster on their summer research at the Summer Undergraduate Research poster session. Also, Josh Sager joined the Sanders lab.

June, 2016 David Roznovjak and Hannah Kats have joined the Sanders lab.

May 17, 2016 Josie presented her research at the Rall Symposium at North Central College.

April 8, 2016 Josie presented her research at NCUR 2016 at UNC Asheville.

March 12, 2016 Josie presented her research at the Undergraduate Student Symposium for Iota Sigma Pi at Lewis University.

Winter 2016 Dr. Sanders submitted a proposal to teach a new course called BIO/CHM 355 Introduction to Biogeochemistry. The proposal was approved and the course will be offered in Spring 2017.

October 16-17, 2015 Dr. Sanders attended MACTLAC at Millikan University with Drs. Boaz, Brandt, Horner, and Jankowski.

October, 2015 Dr. Sanders has a new publication about how thawing permafrost in the Canadian high Arctic is a net source of carbon dioxide and a net sink for methane.

Fall 2015 Dr. Sanders and Dr. Brandt hosted the ACCA Fall Chemistry Seminar Series at North Central College.

August 6, 2015 Josie and Emily presented at NCC's Summer Research Symposium.

July, 2015 Dr. Sanders got married!

April 11, 2015 Dr. Sanders was initiated into the Aurum Iodide chapter of Iota Sigma Pi.

November, 2016 As faculty advisor for SMACS, Dr. Sanders nominated over 20 students join the American Chemical Society, helping each student get a periodic table blanket and raising $500 for the organization!

December, 2016 The Sanders Group conducted experiments at beamline 13-IDE at the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Lab.
