The "Decision:"

With splendid temperatures and gorgeous skies predicted, the Summer 2014 RBWG proceeds as scheduled.

The NO-fees RBWG is a family-friendly, spirited, and jocular gathering, featuring myriad well-marked routes, activities (including Gawking, Standing, Sitting, and “Jolly-jawing”), and topographies, for all to enjoy. The supportive and encouraging group combined with the verdant and terrainous venue is well-suited for extending and exploring your limits, as many have and do. Yodel to the bovines; they are used to it, and they love it!

The SUMMER 2015 RBWG will be Saturday, July 18, 2015, starting at 6:30 a.m. ET. Watch for updates.

The Friends' Five-Park Half , starting from Kline's Dairy Bar - 906 Greenville Av., Staunton, VA 24401, will start at 6:15 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2014. Contact me if you want your provisions placed along the route; we’ll distribute them with our supplies.

Greetings, Groovers, Movers, Shakers, Rollers (HIGH and low) and Stompers. The Summer 2014 RBWG “formally” commences Saturday, July 12, 2014, @ 7:00 a.m. ET; you ARE invited. Begin earlier (or later), as you prefer. This year, we are blessed to have sponsorship and support from PowerBar. Venue location and directions are in the last section of this communique’.

Preparation:

Briefing for the "Perfect Half" and the 12M (Map) begins at 6:20 a.m. ET, or as necessary for earlier starters.

Briefings for the shorter courses (1M Map to 10M Map) begin at 6:50 a.m. ET.

Courses up to and including the 5.2 Map / 5.2 Sat. will be straight out and back

NOTE:

Recognizing potentially disruptive weather conditions (it has to get pretty extreme to cause a schedule change), the final continuation/postponement decision and posting will be on the website by 5:30 a.m. ET, Saturday (July 12, 2014) morning. The inclement-weather, postponement date is Saturday, 19-Jul-14.

We need course-support volunteersit’s EASY: just drive or ride the route(s), offer beverages (we supply), provide assistance, and fetch “slugs”

These are NOT required or provided:

Registration

    • Official course distances (distances derived from Google, Bing, Yahoo, Map my Ride, etc., and they are verified “approximate” by foot and odometer)

    • Timing - bring and do your own

    • Awards

    • T-shirts

      • We do provide a complimentary, modest variety [1] of cooled beverages and lite refreshments [2] – if you harbor a strong, obscure, beveragic requirement, bring your concoction, and we’ll cool it or warm it -- your preference.

      • [1] Water, POWERADE, and/or Gatorade/ G2, etc.

      • [2] As available, orange slices, bananas, & dorg-newts, etc.

      • There will be several fluid/sustenance-replenishment sites for distances from 2M(iles) up to and including the "Perfect Half" 13.1M (Google Road)

      • As possible, we design, modify, and support, routes to accommodate participants' distance and terrain goals, and/or circuit/loop preferences. For any routes without detailed descriptions herein, I’ll provide them, as they are requested. As schedules allow, we will indulge requests for escorted previews – by appointment, preferring Fridays or Saturdays; earlier is better.
