I have participated in the drafting and execution of several research projects as briefly presented below:
Member and co-author of the ANCILE project (“AutoNomic Cybersecurity with adversarIal Learning and Explanations”). ANCILE proposes a new generation of Security Orchestration Automation and Response (SOAR) framework refining a generic autonomic computing architecture and extending the State-of-the-Art (SotA) with three innovations. The first is the integration of four intrusion autonomic detection methods: both probabilistic attack signature recognition and statistical anomaly signaling on both network and endpoint. The second is feeding these four signals to an autonomic pipeline of multistep stealth attack plan recognition followed by search for the mitigation plans that optimize multiple objectives such as availability, confidentiality, integrity, safety, and frugality. The third innovation is adversarial co-learning of an attack planner supporting decisions of a red team of ethical hackers, with a defense pipeline of intrusion detectors, attack plan recognizer and mitigation planner, supporting decisions of a blue Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT).
Program: PRCI - Projet de recherche collaborative - International (800K Euros).
Period: 2024-2028.
Consortium: Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, Ecole Supérieure d’Informatique Electronique Automatique (ESIEA), Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Techniques Avancées de Bretagne (ENSTA Bretagne), Gatewatcher, Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST).
Leader of the project: “Cyber-security requirements modelling and analysis framework”. The main goal of this project is to design and evaluate a new multi-paradigm security modeling approach and its engineering framework (engineering process and tooling) allowing the specification, formalization and analysis of secure hardware and software architectures.
Founded by the “Agence de l'innovation de défense” (AID) - Ministère des Armées (181.500€).
Period: 2021-2024.Member and co-author of the C4IIoT project ("Cyber security 4.0: protecting the Industrial Internet Of Things"). C4IIoT will build and demonstrate a novel and unified IIoT cybersecurity framework for self-protection (malicious and anomalous behaviour anticipation, detection, mitigation, and end-user informing) in the context of industrial internet of things applications.
Role of Paris 1: Modeling and monitoring the cyber-security context and protection of a smart factory and its supply chain logistic, including threat level raising alerts and attack detection, and find an alternative configuration to either maintain protection or enter safe degraded mode.
Program: H2020 (5 millions of Euros).
Period: 2019-2021.
Consortium: 14 institutions from the EU.
Member and co-author of the AI4EU project ("A European AI On Demand Platform"). AI4EU will efficiently build a comprehensive European AI-on-demand platform to lower barriers to innovation, to boost technology transfer and catalyse the growth of start-ups and SMEs in all sectors through Open calls and other actions. The platform will act as a broker, developer and one-stop shop providing and showcasing services, expertise, algorithms, software frameworks, development tools, components, modules, data, computing resources, prototyping functions and access to funding.
Role of Paris 1: Propose innovative methods to verify declarative, partially machine learned knowledge bases and the inference engine that reason with them to implement dependability and security critical AI components.
Program: H2020 (20 millions of Euros).
Period: 2019-2022.
Consortium: 76 institutions from the EU.
Member and co-author of the REVaMP2 project ("Round-trip Engineering and VAriability Management Platform and Process").
Role of Paris 1: Leader of product line verification automation work package
Program: FUI + Eureka-ITEA (20 millions of Euros).
