Rich is a Graduate Research Assistant in Professor Ichiro Takeuchi's group in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and Center for Nanophysics and Advanced Materials at the University of Maryland, College Park.

His primary research interest is discovering new superconductors, and investigating the mechanism of superconductivity evolving from doped Mott insulators in perovskite and spinel oxide crystal structures in thin films fabricated by combinatorial pulsed laser deposition.
