Institutional Engagement and Impact
March 2023. I visited the Melbourne Institute to engage the HILDA survey team about my recent research on distributional comparisons under missing data. I presented new methodology for credibly and robustly comparing distributions when data are not necessarily missing at random, using income data from the HILDA survey; see this link for more details.
December 2020. My co-authored paper on confidence in Lebanese public Institutions has been cited in the United Nations and World Bank report "Lebanon, Reform, Recovery, and Reconstruction Framework (3RF)" . The paper presents strong evidence of undermined trust in Lebanese government institutions prior to the devastating explosion of the Beirut harbour on the 4th of August, 2020, which the UN report has used to provide context and key challenges in Lebanon's economic crisis.
February 2019. I have been invited to serve as a guest expert for the Expert Group Meeting on “Multidimensional Inequality in the Arab Countries” at The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia. My role was to give technical feedback on their case studies for their report “Rethinking Inequality in Arab Countries”. This report uses the econometric methodology in my co-authored paper to detect the presence of health inequality in Arab countries.
December 2016. I co-founded the Lebanese Econometric Econometric Study Group with Prof. Elie Tamer . An important objective of our annual meetings is to nurture young scholars by providing them with an opportunity to present their research to a wider group beyond their immediate institution.
