Academic History

I graduated in 2009 from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE). In my undergradutate thesis I analysed the diet of a common lizard species in Northeast Brazil (Tropidurus hispidus) from a dry forest population, and compared it to an Amazonian population published previously .

Thesis original title: Aspectos descritivos e comparativos da dieta de Tropidurus hispidus (Squamata: Tropiduridae) em uma população da Caatinga de Pernambuco na estação seca.

In 2010 I had the pleasure of staying for 30 days in the Brazilian wetlands (Pantanal) during the Field Ecology Course in Pantanal offered by the Universidade Federal do Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS).

In 2012 I obtained my masters degree from the Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPB). My research project consisted in the comparison of some ecological aspects (diet, clutch size, reproductive cycle, temperature, microhabitat use, activity and morphology) of two lizards species (Tropidurus hispidus and Cnemidophorus ocellifer) living in three different environmental conditions.

Doctorate:

2014 - 2019

During my Ph.D. in the Garland lab I got involved with several projects involving maximal aerobic capacity of lizards and mice (see publications link). My thesis is focused on understanding the relationship between suborganismal traits, sprint speed, and maximal oxygen consumption during exercise Sceloporus occidentalis and how these performances correlate with behavioral components in the field, such as intensity of push-up displays and movement patterns.

Just arrived from field work chasing T. hispidus and C. ocellifer on the

Caatinga from Paraíba, Northeast Brazil.
