Cross table

Maidstone v Rainham 8th July

Our first match in the competition was a convincing win, individual scores were Martin Taylor 4/4, Andy Waters 2.5/4, Tom Stonehouse 3/4 & Paul Giddins 1/4.

Rainham v Tunbridge Wells 12th August

Rainham got off to a commanding start with white in the first round with a convincing 3-1, that was followed with a similar score in the third round which meant we just needed a single win in the final round to claim victory. The fourth round was drawn meaning that we won the match 9.5 - 6.5.

Individual scores were Martin Taylor 4/4, Trefor Owens 3/4, Tom Stonehouse 2.5/4 and Rob Springett 0/4.

This means with Folkestone also wining their opening two games its all to play for on Saturday to see who progresses to the semi-final stages.

Folkestone v Rainham 15th August

Needing a tie or a win to finish top of our group we raced to a 4-0 lead in the first round. All the subsequent rounds were drawn leaving Rainham as match winners 10-6.

Individual scores were Martin Taylor 4/4, Andy Waters 3/4, Tom Stonehouse 2/4 and Paul Giddins 1/4.

We now proceed to the semi-final stage.

Semi-final; Rainham v Dartford 7th October

We won the toss and elected to have white in rounds two and four. As black we shared the spoils with Dartford drawing 2-2 in both rounds one and three. As white we won round two 3-1 and round four 3.5-0.5 to run out convincing winners.

Individual scores were Martin Taylor 4/4, Andy Waters 3.5/4, Tom Stonehouse 2.5/4 and Rob Springett 0.5/4.

We now face Beckenham away in the final.

Final; Beckenham v Rainham 26th November

Facing a strong Beckenham team whose grades averaged 190 we got off to a poor start losing the first round 2.5 - 1.5. The next two rounds were tied 2 - 2 and we levelled the match by scoring 2pts from the first three games to finish in the last round leaving just Martin's game against Ian Snape unfinished but unfortunately he lost for the first time in the entire tournament so Beckenham retained the title for another season.

Individual scores were Martin Taylor 2/4, Andy Waters 1.5/4, Chris Marshall 1.5/4 and Tom Stonehouse 2.5/4.
