Sun Gazette Cup

On April 16, 2010 RAFOM President Stan Karson became the 76th recipient of the Arlington County Civic Federation (ACCF) Sun Gazette Cup in recognition of his leadership efforts in the ACCF and for his local activism across a spectrum of issues.

Sun Gazette Cup Award text

This year the Sun Gazette Cup goes to one of the most active members of the Civic Federation Community:

  • Founding member and long time president of a very active civic association.

  • Former President of the Center for Corporate Public Involvement

  • Member of the Board of Directors of the County’s Homeless Shelter on Columbia Pike

  • Member of the Arlington County Diversity Dialogue Task Force

  • Member of the Board of Directors of Rosslyn Renaissance

  • Member of the Board of Directors of the Mongolian School

  • Member of the Civic Federation’s Public Services Committee

  • Member of the Civic Federation’s Housing Committee, and active in affordable housing policy

  • Worked for five years on the Fort Myer Heights North sector plan, to keep garden apartments and affordable housing in the area

  • Served on the Executive Committee for four years and has been Vice Chair twice

  • Was Chairman of the Civic Federation for a short term until elections could be held

The Sun Gazette Cup this year goes to Stanley G. Karson.
