Master Zien is an incredibly old elven monk who kept a cottage deep within the jungle of Talara. The heroes of The Talara Campaign came across him during their journey through the jungle, and Elsbeth sought after his wisdom and training. Zien agreed to accompany the heroes and train Elsbeth along the way, and it soon became apparent that there was much more to the old monk than it seemed at first.

He remained with the heroes for the rest of their quest along the length and breadth of Talara, and he was greatly respected by all he came into contact with. It was also discovered that he was much older than first assumed, as he had memories of the First Dynasty of Nihon before Talara had separated from the Main Continent.

A very wise man, and astonishingly talented martial artist, Zien is very loath to come to violence with any, preferring avoidance to blows.

When the quest was ended, and Talara now anchored in the right dimension once more, Master Zien decided to travel across the Main Continent on his own, stopping in monasteries along the way to correct lax teachings, and re-instill the proper values needed as a monk. Eventually he plans on making his way back to the place of his birth; Nihon.
