Splinter


Splinter is the elder and leader of a warren of Ratfolk located within a mountain cave system in the jungle of Talara. The heroes of The Talara Campaign needed to pass through the cave system to get to the other side of the mountain as a part of their journey through the jungle. Aiolli knew of the Ratfolk inside, and was able to advise the group on seeking permission for passage.

Offering trade of food and shiny baubles, the heroes were able to convince the Ratfolk to allow them passage, however when the heroes came into the main warren, the state of the people within was brought sadly into focus. Food had become difficult to come by, as the warren's foragers were dying off in alarming numbers while trying to gather the fruits in the trees just outside their cave. It seems a very deadly snake species had moved into the area. Which seemed rather unusual to both Ma'likka and Aiolli, as this species of snake was usually solitary.

The heroes decided to investigate and it was discovered that the snakes were actually being sent in by a group of Yuan Ti looking to expand into the area. This enraged Ma'likka, who despised Yuan Ti with a great ferocity, and the heroes were able to track down and eliminate the Yuan Ti causing the trouble.

With the elimination of the threat, the people of the warren were able to now freely gather the food they had needed so badly, and the heroes had gained their highest gratitude.
