Ancient Projects

MaTra at NCST Bombay [1996-99]

A Human Aided Machine Translation system to translate English news stories into Hindi. The objective is to increase the availability of news to Indian Language newspapers. The focus is on the innovative use of man-machine synergy.

My main contribution: Preposition mapping rules and building lexical resources.

Shakti MT system at LTRC, IIIT Hyderabad [2003-06]

The Shakti MT system is designed to take readymade subsystems. The plan is to make it available as a kit so that any language pair can be plugged in and the system can start working as a translation tool for that language pair. Simplicity, transparency and modularity are its salient features.

My main contribution: Transfer grammar rules, PP attachment and maintaining lexical resources.

FLAN system at LTRC, IIIT Hyderabad [2004-05]

A generic shell based on finite state transducers. The objective is to create a free tool which can be used to build morphological and other analysers for any language, rapidly. The shell is data based and allows multiple phases. The design allows transfer of features during cascading from one phase to another.

My main contribution: The algorithm and writing FSTs to test data from different languages.
