Visiting us at UiO?

Airport:

Oslo Airport "Gardermoen" lies ca. 50 km north-east of the city. There are regular flights to many destinations in Norway and internationally. The main carriers within Scandinavia are SAS and Norwegian.

The town is served by two frequent bus and train services. The train is the fastest way to get to central Oslo, but the regional trains (such as L12, R10 and R11) are significantly cheaper than the airport express (F1, F2, etc) and are also quite fast.

In Oslo, you can connect to the underground trains (T-bane) lines T4 or T5. You can connect at either the central station, or "Nationaltheatret". The T-bane station closest to our offices and labs is "Forskningsparken".

The route planner on Google maps is good at helping you find the best bus, train and T-bane connections. You can find ticket information here: www.ruter.no

Hotels:

There are many hotels around. My preferred hotels are:
-- Hotell Bondeheimen [If you want to stay in the city centre and travel by public transport]
-- Thon Hotel Storo [if you travel by car/motorbike]
-- SmartHotel Oslo [if you want a budget hotel]
All of these hotels can be booked using common engines, such as www.booking.com

Finding you way around the University:

The section for semiconductor physics is located in "Kristen Nygaards Hus" Gaustadalléen 23A. It is 400m to walk to the building from Forskningsparken T-bane station (see map below). The main door is on the north side of the building, and our section is on the same level as the main door. The door is kept locked, but there is a doorbell at the door to the section to ring.
