Biography


Qin Yi, obtained her Bachelor Degrees of Composition and Pipa (A Chinese traditional instrument) in Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2004. In 2006, she obtained her Master Degree under Professor Chen Qiangbin and famous composer Qu Xiaosong. Now she is Lecturer in department of Music Engineering of Shanghai Conservatory of Music.

As a composer and player Qin Yi has taken part in many international and national musical events. These include Hong Kong Arts Festival, ISCM World Music Days, International Gaudeamus Music Week, Ars Electronica FESTIVAL, Europe 5th. International Workshop, Chinese Composers’ Festival, Aspekte Salzburg, Munchener biennale, Les Musicades invitent la Chine, Shanghai International Festival of Arts, Shanghai International Music Festival,Shanghai eARTS festival, Shanghai International Electroacoustic Music Week, Beijing Modern International Music Festival and the China Contemporary Music Forum and etc.

Her works have been performed in many European countries such as Germany, Holland, Austria and Luxembourg, as well as Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and TaiwanRecent honors include First Prize in “2006 Tsang-Houei Hsu International Music Composition Competition; Honorary Mentions in 2008 Prix Ars Electronica Digital Music Category; Third Prize of Composition Competition in “Chinese Music Jin Zhong Award”.

Her current commission from Shanghai International Electronic Music Week, Les Percussions de Treffort, MATA 2012 Festival and etc. 

In recent years, She has served on the organizing committees of the 1st-3rd Shanghai International Electroacoustic Music Week, Shanghai eARTS festival and etc.
