Construction Management Minor at SIUC

A minor in Construction Management consists of a minimum of 15 semester hours, including Architecture 210, 310, 410, 411 and 413 in Construction Management. All prerequisites for these classes must also be satisfied. An advisor within the School of Architecture must be consulted before selecting this field as a minor. Students must earn a minimum 2.0 grade point average for those minor courses.The major goal is to prepare students with knowledge of construction management science and leadership in general business for future career success in one of the most rapid growing fields in the United States.The Construction Management and Operations Minor in Architectural Studies is unique due to its well-recognized building design technical background, combined with a newly developed construction management curriculum. This combination provides the students with a comprehensive knowledge foundation to a successful career.

The rate of growth of construction industry in the past years is significant, and the need for well-trained construction professionals is high. Coupled with strengths in the architecture and management disciplines, a bachelor’s degree specialized in construction management and operations will have significant positive value for students who are pursuing construction management as their career. The potential job titles for the graduates are: Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Assistant Superintendent, Estimator, Scheduler.
