2016 Community Survey Results

In 2016 the QCAS worked with Dr. Pat McGrath at the NSHA to develop a community questionnaire that received over 946 responses from 762 adults and 188 youth. Overall, the survey found that 80% of respondents think a pool is the number one priority for construction in Queens County.

The survey found that 70% of respondents ranked a pool as being Quite Important, or higher, with 17% listing it as being Critically Important.

Importance of a Year Round Pool

When asked about their expected usage of a pool, 50% of respondents said they would use it more than once a week.

Expected Used of an Indoor Pool in Queens

Respondents were most interested in a therapy pool in addition to the main swimming pool, with a kiddie pool being the second most popular addition.

Desired Additional Features

When asked what activities they envisioned taking part in, about half of all respondents planned to partake in Lap Swim or General Swim. Aquacize was also preferred in nearly one third of all surveys. Almost one quarter of youths who responded indicated an interest in Lifesaving classes.
