March 2022 Presentation to Council

On March 22, 2022 the QCAS met with the Region of Queens Municipal Council to present our plan for a new outdoor aquatic facility in Queens County. This included a 3 million dollar donation to support the construction of this facility.

Here's a link to the council meeting and to our presentation.

Who are we?

The Queens Community Aquatic Society is a non-profit community group that aims to bring an indoor aquatic facility to the Queens County Area.

What do we know about the community's interest in a pool?

In 2016 the QCAS received nearly 1000 responses to a survey asking community members for their views on an aquatics facility. 80% of respondents felt that a pool was the top priority for construction in Queens County today. You can read more on our survey results page.

What will be included in the pool?

Current plans include a therapy pool, a leisure pool and a main pool with 4 to 6 lanes. We hope to be able to complete a facility that meets Swim Canada regulations in order to host sanctioned swim meets. While the final design is still in the planning stages, we want to offer innovative features such as a climbing wall and a zip line as well.

Where do we plan to build?

We plan to make use of land and connections put in place during the construction of Queens Place Emera Centre to link the pool to the existing facility.

How can I get involved?
