Core Group

The Risk Communications Network Core Group is responsible for determining the content of the meetings, identifying committee members for upcoming projects, and keeping the RCN mission on track.  Nearly all core group members have been with the RCN since its inception and attend all quarterly meetings.  They are considered some of the experts in public information in the community of Pueblo and make themselves available to the media and their fellow PIO's consistently.


Sarah Joseph 

Sarah Joseph is the Public Information Officer for the Pueblo City County Health Department, where she has been working since 1999. Sarah was trained by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Crisis & Emergency Risk Communication. She was also trained in Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Joint Information Systems & Joint Information Centers and as an Advanced Public Information Officer. Sarah has a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. She served as a Field Communicator in the 2004 response to Florida’s Hurricane Charley. Locally, Sarah serves on the board of the Southern Colorado Press Club.


Gayle Perez

Gayle Perez has been the Public Information Officer for the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office and the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program since January 2016. Before joining the Sheriff's Office, Gayle worked 28 years as a journalist, reporting on everything from sports, to government, education, crime, and general assignment. She was a staff reporter at the Pueblo Chieftain for 26 years, and before that was a reporter at the Greeley Tribune for two years. Gayle has participated in several training programs pertaining to Public Information, Joint Information Systems and Joint Information Centers, and Risk and Crisis Communication.
