The Rules & Orders of Snark

Snark is an open role play area where visitors are encouraged to interact and play. 

I've tried to describe the standards expected from my guests without laying down a long list of hard and fast dos and don'ts. 

Please exercise your best judgement and common sense.  If you have any doubts or queries please ask.

Scope

The following rules and guidelines, known as 'The Rules & Orders of Snark', apply at all times to:

    Psi's Realm

• • • Any area or activity within Psi's Realm (Snark).

    Any activity started in Psi's Realm and continued elsewhere.

• • • You must continue to observe the rules in other regions unless a deviation has been freely agreed to by all participants. 

    • The rules of the new region must, of course, be followed but can not be used to override these terms.

The aim of this clause is to ensure that the limits established here can't be changed by simply dragging you off to a different region.

• • • Any activity between participants agreeing to play by the 'Rules of Snark'.

Rules of the Region

There are a few hard and fast rules, necessary for the safety of my guests and the efficient running of the region. 

They are not negotiable.  Examples are given for clarity and don't cover all possibilities.

    No RL minors

• • • You must be at least 18 years old, and have reached the legal age of consent in your country.

    Your avatar must appear and act as an adult whilst visiting Snark.

• • •   Child avatars and under-age play are not permitted here due to the regions adult theme.

    •   Appearance and profile information may be taken into account. 

    •   Height is not the defining factor - short adults are welcome.

    No non-consensual activities.

• • •   Consent is required, always check if you have any doubts.

    •   Communication must not be blocked until consent has been established. 

    •   See the capture guidance.

    No Griefing.

• • • Includes harassing, abusing or assaulting guests or attempting to crash or disrupt the sim.

    No soliciting or unauthorised commercial activities.

• • • Includes Escorts, advertising, begging or demanding money.

    Second Life ToS and CS apply.

• • • No resident or region owner has the power to amend or ignore them.

Authority

Snark is a private region owned by Psi Merlin. 

    Authority to uphold the rules and maintain good order is delegated to the Wardens.

The owner and designated Wardens reserve the right to eject and/or ban anybody from the region,  at their sole discretion, for any reason and for any length of time.

    The Wardens have absolute authority to deal with miscreants by any means necessary.

• • • Where possible they may act 'in role' by restraining or caging.

    • More serious offences will result in the ejection and/or banning from Snark.

    Please remove any tags or titles that might imply you have authority here.

• • •   For example Warden, Owner.

Limits

    Hard Limits

The following, more extreme forms of play, are regarded as hard limits and are not permitted.

• • • Rape, Torture, Mutilation, Death

    •  'Forced' body modification, hair cutting / head shaving.

    • Blood, Scat & Water sports (anything to do with Piss or Shit).

    • Bestiality.

If you wish to engage in these activities please find a more appropriate region.

    Personal limits must be respected

• • • Say "((SAFEWORD))" in IM or chat if you are uncomfortable and need to discuss the situation.

    • "((STOP STOP STOP))" means stop and release now - this is not negotiable and must be respected without delay.

    First/Real Life details are private and personal.

• • • You must not seek to obtain any information related to a guest's First Life existence.

    • Requiring First Life tasks or actions be performed is not permitted.

    • You are free to offer any personal information you are comfortable sharing. 

Behaviour

It is not possible to cover all possible events and situations.  The following rules and guidelines illustrate the etiquette and the behaviour expected of my guests. 

I encourage spontaneous and creative play at Snark.  Act responsibly in the spirit of these guidelines and everyone will have an enjoyable time.

Respect other Guests

    Don't interfere with someone else's scene. 

• • • Watching and listening quietly and discretely in public areas is fine. 

    • Polite questions and comments made 'in character' are normally welcome.

    Take care with sounds.  

• • • Occasional sounds, such as the snick of cuffs locking add to the the fun - oops, someone's in trouble again!

    • Spamming the area with repetitive sounds, such as heavy breathing from a gas mask, gets old really fast and should be avoided.    

    Avoid repetitive messages.

• • • Try to limit or turn of repetitive messages from devices and gestures.   

Cages and Capture

    Capture play is permitted and encouraged.

Snark is a capture play region, hunting, caging and key grabbing are permitted so long as Snark's rules and guidelines are followed.

• • •  Don't interfere with others games.

    • Check roles and profiles - Will your actions be welcomed and accepted?   - Interaction is required, don't simply take control.

    • Check that your captive is happy to continue - if not arrange for a prompt release.

    • Play with your victim, don't lock and leave.

    • Caging or grabbing the keys of everyone in sight with no intention to play in the spirit of Snark is simply griefing.

Guests are welcome to leave their restraints open with keys available.  Of course it's a bit risky, but indicates a willingness to engage in appropriate play.  It is not an invitation to grab, lock and leave them restricted.  

    Locks, timers and restrictions

• • •  When playing with new partners an initial 30 minute timer is suggested.  

    • Remember to return keys at close of play.

    • Many people have strong views on Mouselook and blindfolds, please respect them.

    Escape

• • • Teleporting or using sit tricks to escape traps or cages is regarded as cheating and is frowned upon.

    • If you are caught escaping, you may be banned from the area.  

    • Some devices may automatically ban offenders for a short period.  It's a fair cop - accept the punishment and serve the time.

    • Cheating spoils the atmosphere for everyone.

    RLV and Relays

The use of a RLV relay is highly recommended.

• • • Ideally it should accept commands from any object in the land group (Psi's Realm).   

    • I design my cages using RLV restrictions to enhance your experience in a sensible and realistic way -

    • Open bars don't restrict communication - a solid, padded cell probably will. A cage won't suddenly strip your clothes without reason.

The cage scripts can't read your profile - If you have particular requirements, such as IM being required then please set your relay to query, or reject the appropriate commands. 

Role Play

    Profiles

Good profile information helps everyone get along.

    Sex

• • • Do not assume people are looking for Sex,

    • Male guests should always keep their 'dangley bits' covered and under control.

    Duty of Care

• • • Remember to look after your captives.

    • Locking someone up then ignoring them or running off to find new victims is not acceptable.

It's all very well rendering your captive totally helpless but don't forget your responsibilities. The more restricted and isolated you make them, the more care and attention they will need.

    Role play is about interaction. 

Don't simply click on anything in sight and rely on scripted text.

    Combat and Weapons

• • • Snark is not a Combat region.

    • The carrying and use of appropriate weapons is permitted in support of an ongoing role play.

    • Cage throwers, RLV Dart guns and devices of a similar nature are permitted and encouraged for capture play. 

    Rezzing toys and objects

• • • Rezzing objects is permitted.  Snark has a reasonably long return time so there's scope for good RP.

    • Try to place objects so that they fit in with the environment.

    • Product boxes and plywood prims laying around are particularly annoying - I hope that box wasn't to help you cheat!

    • Please tidy up when you're done.

    Private areas.

I'm happy to share many of Snark's facilities. 

You will find private rooms and areas within the region, please respect their privacy.

• • • • Locked doors imply no entry, or exit. 

      • If you can't enter an area through an open door, public Teleport or similar means then you probably shouldn't be there.

    Dealing with problems

• • • If you have a problem try to discuss and resolve it via IM or ((out of character text)).

    • Consider muting the offender, and moving away or logging off.

    • Report issues related to Snark to Psi or her Wardens. 

    • File an Abuse report for serious griefing and Linden ToS and CS violations.

    For anything else

• • • Use you common sense.

    • Ask.
