PROUD
Parents’ Resource for Outstanding Dublin Students (PROUD) was established by a group of parents of Dublin City Schools children whose children had been identified as “gifted”. The children of this group were of all school age levels (elementary through high school), and represented most of the schools within the district. At a district-sponsored program that addressed issues related to raising gifted kids, a survey asked whether parents would be interested in forming a support group to address these same issues, and the results were very positive. Ellen Broyles, the District’s Gifted Program Director, invited the respondents to an exploratory meeting for that purpose. At the meeting, a core group agreed to take the lead and draft By-laws for what would become PROUD. In December of 2004, the Bylaws were adopted and the beginnings of a slate of officers from the original core group were nominated. At this time, the organization is focused on recruiting members from throughout the district.
