How Scientific Knowledge Works–Modeling the Cycle of Scientific Investigation

Abstract

The process of scientific investigation involves interplay between theory and experiment that does not currently feature prominently in formal or ontological models. In this talk, I will present a relatively simple conceptual model for scientific work and describe knowledge engineering work that seeks to instantiate it. Currently, this work is being developed in the context of automated feed generation in the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative's Meta system.
