Abstract
In this talk it will be discussed how the approach of metamodeling can be used as a concept to couple conceptual models in the business domain with external services and systems. In this way three tasks can be accomplished: a. the processing of model content using third-party services, b. the configuration of external systems, and c. a hybrid combination of processing and configuration. To illustrate the approach three examples will be given: one from the area of business process management and ontology-based processing of process simulations, one from social media management and model-based configuration of natural language processing, and one from quality management for processing model data and data references with statistical analysis. The talk will be concluded with an outlook on future research directions in the area of metamodeling.
