Bio-Sketch

Dr. Samit Ari received B. Tech in Electronics and Tele-communication Engineering degree from the University of Kalyani and M. Tech degree in Instrumentation Engineering from Calcutta University. He completed his Ph.D in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. He joined National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela as a faculty member in 2009, where he presently holds the position of Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. He is an accomplished researcher with a strong research background in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition, Signal Processing, Image Processing. He is proficient in solving new challenges with innovative ideas; achieving measurable results through the rapid application and support of advanced technologies; building and motivating teams; carrying out strategic planning and managing projects; and making the best use of technical expertise and research skills.

Dr. Ari is a senior member of IEEE and a member of IEEE signal processing society. Currently, he is also an Associate Editor of IET Image Processing Journal. He has published more than sixty research articles in reputed journals (like IEEE, IET, Elsevier, Springer etc.) and conferences. He has guided seven PhD, one M. Tech (Research) students and supervised more than fifty-five M. Tech and more than forty-five B. Tech projects. In addition, seven PhD, three M. Tech and three B. Tech students are presently pursuing their research work under his direct supervision. He handles a number of projects funded by DRDO, SERB etc. in the area of Artificial Intelligence, Pattern Recognition, Signal and Image processing.
