Eric DeRise, Ed.D.(c): "Hello, and welcome to Video Graphics with Dr. DeRise. Today we’re going to review my favorite cellphone video kit. This kit is awesome. It’s perfect for beginners because it’s very affordable and very very effective. It includes a wireless clip-on mic, an optional shotgun mic, a fill light, a tripod, a tripod head, and a Samsung Galaxy S7. Of course, you can pretty much use any smartphone for this kit. But I prefer the S7 because I don’t like Bixley constantly offering to assist me when I’m trying to record a video. I also prefer to have a physical home button as opposed to a hot-spot home button. And hey -remember those charging cables that you still need for many other things like speakers? Those still work on the S7. It has a 5.1" screen and 32 GBs of memory. If that’s not enough memory for you, you can always insert"... (Continued Below)

The nice thing is that the camera is more than good enough for what you need it for. Also, I left links to all of these items below if you want more information about them.
Now, for the Wireless Microphone System I love the KIMAFUN 2.4G Wireless Lavalier Microphone with Lavalier Lapel Mic. It comes with a wireless transmitter & receiver that can be used for a computer, a speaker, a phone, a camera, for teaching and public speaking. I believe that I got mine for about $40. And I use it constantly. The wireless lapel microphone system has 2.4 Ghz wireless transmission, and continuous frequency matching. The distance range is within 50 ft in an open field without degradation of the audio response. It can work as a portable karaoke system too. Think about it. The wireless transmitter & receiver can be charged simultaneously. It has a working time of more than six hours on a full charge. The mini metal clip allows you to easily clip it to your collar, tie or pocket. They have used state of the art lightweight materials to ensure you barely even notice the microphone is there. The wireless lapel mic connects automatically when powered on. With low radiation, low interference, high signal"... (Continued Below)

At the same time, the frequency of the wireless microphone provides confidentiality, anti-interference ability and loud, clear, high fidelity sound. It has a back-lit LCD screen on the transmitter to show the current status. When you turn on the transmitter & receiver power switches, the blue light will flash for 2 seconds, and the indicator light stops flashing after there is a successful match. The Built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery can be charged via USB Y-cable. With a full charge it has a working time of more than 6 hours. The receiver is designed with a 3.5 mm (1/8”) plug. It also include a 6.35 mm (1/4”) connection plug adapter which can be used for a loud speaker or PA system . It also includes a Y-shaped mobile phone plug that allows for connection to headphones and the receiver. One thing to remember is that if you don’t use the Y-plug when you record you won’t get any audio even though you have the receiver plugged directly into the phone. So, remember that unless you want to record silent video.
Next is the optional Shotgun Microphone for your Smartphone by BOYA. This is not a good mic for vlogging unless you want to include more background noise. But it is great for events where you do want to pick up the sounds of things happening far away such as a sporting event. It’s a 3.5mm cardiod mini mic that plugs into your smartphone, so, you wouldn’t be able to use both mics on the same phone at the same time. This mic can go for as low as $39.95. It comes with its own stand that you can either put on top of a DSLR, or a compatible camera stand. It’s very compact, and it requires no batteries. It also comes with two different types of cables, one for a phone and one for a camera.
Next is the 96 LED Video Light. It’s a mini pocket LED light that you can mount on a DSLR, a camcorder, or a camera stand. It has a standard hot shoe with 1/4" female screw. It has an on off switch and a fader control dial. It’s great for Vlogging because it’s mobile, but you have to use if fairly close to your subject (in other words YOU). I got mine for about $15.95. And it’s awesome. It has 96 LED bulbs, two different pop-on filters with a magnet design (one a is Soft filter and one is an orange filter). I usually use the orange filter when I’m indoors, and the white filter when I’m shooting with natural daylight. You need 4 AA batteries to power it. By the way the batteries are not included.
Finally we come to the Zeadio Smartphone Video Rig. It’s a grip stabilizer for mounting your cellphone on a tripod. This thing is AWESOME. It adjusts to any phone and you can mount so many different things on it it’s ridiculous. It only costs $10.99. You can Hold the handles with both hands and can easily maintain the cellphone balance and greatly reduce shaky shots. It’s very Lightweight at 5.6 oz. and it’s easy to carry. It has a triple hot-shoe connector. It can be simultaneously attached to an LED light, a microphone or any other devices. It has a 5 x 1/4 '' threaded hole. And it can be connected both vertically and horizontally to ANY tripod, slider, stabilizer or dolly. I love this thing.
So there you have it. My wireless clip-on mic, my optional shotgun mic, my portable fill light, my adjustable cell phone tripod head, and my smartphone. The wireless clip-on mic is a KIMAFUN 2.4G Wireless Lavalier Microphone with Lavalier Lapel Mic, the shotgun mic is a Shotgun Microphone by BOYA, the portable fill light is a 96 LED Video Light, the adjustable cell phone tripod head is a Zeadio Smartphone Video Rig, and the Smartphone is a Galaxy S7. Of course, you can pretty much use any tripod for this setup.I usually buy the cheapest one I can find at Walmart. But everything else you see here I actually got online, and you can too. I left my links below, so, you can look them up by clicking on the link if you want.
Now I plan on making more product reviews so that you can set yourself up with a good video starter kit for your videos. I hope you enjoyed this article. Until next time, take care."
