Development of concepts and principles from selected topics in mechanics, electricity, heat, sound, and light. Application to everyday life and contemporary issues facing society and their implications. Topics may include energy sources, climate change, medical physics, among others. Not recommended for students who have had a year of high school physics. Not available for credit to students with credit in PHYS 150A.

While you can use earlier editions of the textbook, you MUST have the correct "Mastering Physics" homework on-line access key for the 12th edition. Homework assignments have immediate feedback and grading!) 'on line' via the Pearson Mastering Physics website. Homework counts for quite a large percentage of the grade so you must have the on-line access or you will not get any homework credit.
The bookstores version of the textbooks (hard copy or e-text, or hardcopy with etext) come with a copy of the access key for Mastering Physics. If you have your own copy of the textbook (e.g., via ebay or borrowing from a student who took the course previously) the bookstore has an option to buy only the 'access key'. (its about $50-70).
