Alaa Sheta is a Professor of Computer Science at Southern Connecticut State University. He received his B.E., M.Sc. degrees in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University in 1988 and 1994, respectively. In 1997, he received his Ph.D. from the Computer Science Department, School of Information Technology and Engineering, George Mason University, Fairfax, VA, USA. He has 22 years of experience in the area of Evolutionary Computation, Modeling and Simulation of Dynamical Nonlinear Systems, Image Processing, Robotics, Swarm Intelligence, Search Algorithms, Optimization, Automatic Control, Fuzzy Logic, and Neural Networks. Dr. Sheta supervised more than 30 MS and Ph.D. dissertations. His research record includes more than 160 conference and journal publications, 6 book chapters and 3 books. He is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Advanced Computer Science and Applications (IJACSA) and the International Journal of Computational Complexity and Intelligent Algorithms.
