Marlan Warren helms Roadmap Communications and Book Publicity by Marlan, offering full services for indie authors that incorporate her experience as a journalist, novelist, book editor, playwright, screenwriter, blogger, and website designer. Her blogs include Roadmap Girl’s Book Buzz and L.A. Now & Then. She is the author of the fictionalized memoir, Roadmaps for the Sexually Challenged: All’s Not Fair in Love or War and the AIDS memoir, Rowing on a Corner. Marlan writes a column for No Depression: The Journal of Roots Music, and reviews for the Midwest Book Review. She co-produced and wrote the documentary, Reunion, which was the official selection at international film festivals, including AFI and in Taiwan. Currently, she is in post-production for the documentary, What Did You Do in the War, Mama?: Kochiyama’s Crusaders, which grew out of her play, Bits of Paradise. The play and film focus on the letters between women held in WWII Japanese American Internment camps and Japanese American soldiers. Marlan wrote the award-winning educational children’s video series, Reading Planet. Her play, Chasing Sangha, was showcased at Athena Cats’ 10-Minute Play Festival, and her women’s self-defense musical, Hallelujah Whiplash, was performed at The Marquis Public Theatre in San Diego. She is also a professional screenwriter and taught Screenwriting at The Pacific Film Factory. Her B.F.A. is in Screenwriting and English from the University of Southern California, and she studied Theater at Florida State University.
Marlan is on the faculty of the Greater Los Angeles Writers Society, and a member of the Nonfiction Writers Association. She speaks on topics of public relations, novel and memoir writing, and film making.
Roadmap Communications was named to Yelp's "Best Publicist" List in 2018.
