James and Judith Pritchard emigrated from Briscarnagh in Country Monaghan.
James Kenny reported that they had lived as tenants on the Hilton estate of the Madden family in County Monaghan. (Apparently Briscarnagh townland was part of the estate until the estate was broken up, probably in the 1920s. Samuel Madden purchased 4,000 acres in 1734, it is now 600 acres.)
Niall Pritchard provided a family tree (attached) showing that James' father was Samuel Pritchard and that James had brothers Thomas and Joseph, with James and Thomas in Briscarnagh townland, and Joseph in adjacent Lurganboy townland, married to a Jane Robinson. Niall is descended from Catherine Roberts and Joseph Pritchard, shown as a son of Thomas Pritchard.
More recently, Barrie Pritchard provided an updated chart showing the children and grand children of Samuel Pritchard. With the updates, Niall is descended not from Thomas but from his brother Joseph (and Thomas went to Lurganboy, Joseph stayed in Briscarnagh; on this, also see Ian Pritchard and Theo McMahon).
The townland of Briscarnagh is in the parish of Currin, which is in south-west Monaghan and includes the towns of Drum and Scotshouse. A map of Currin townlands is attached, note Hilton Demesne.
