OFFICIAL RULES FOR THE SASKATCHEWAN PREMIER’S WALLEYE CUP
All persons 18 years or older may fish in the Saskatchewan Premier’s Walleye Cup. Persons under 18 may fish with a designated guardian.
Each contestant must have in his or her possession a valid Saskatchewan fishing license (unless exempt as per Saskatchewan law).
Promoters and organizations assisting in tournament operation, their agencies and agents are not responsible for death, injury, damage, liability, theft, fire or any loss to any entrant. Each entrant, upon signing an accepted entry form, will in effect be signing a waiver form.
All boats will be required to meet Canadian safety regulations.
Live wells must be used by all teams. A live well is an aerated container used to retain live fish. All non-factory live wells will be subject to inspection/approval prior to fishing.
Only a portion of Tobin Lake will be used. The south boundary will be from the new bridge. The north boundary will be at Pemican Point and will be clearly marked by buoys.
The scale for the weigh-in will be open throughout the fishing day starting at 8:00 a.m.
Teams may weigh five (5) fish per day. Four (4) fish under 55 cm and one (1) fish over 70 cm allowed. Fish must be OVER 70 cm or UNDER 55 cm to qualify as a recordable fish.
The tournament fishing day will begin at 7:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. All boats must be inspected before they will be allowed to leave with their respective flights. All contestant boats will be identified with a coloured decal. Team numbers will be assigned when applicants are notified of their acceptance to the tournament.
Leeches, night crawlers, artificial bait and lures are allowed. Electronic or electrical luring or attracting devices are prohibited.
PENALTY: Disqualification
Only those fish caught on a barbless hook and line in normal and usual manner will be accepted. Barbed hooks will result in disqualification.
Each fisherman will be allowed one (1) line in the water at a time. Spare rods and equipment may be carried in the boat. More than two (2) lines in the water, as witnessed by a patrol boat or committee member, will result in disqualification.
No fish shall be mangled or altered in any way to lengthen or shorten.
Putting a fish back in the water that is not releasable will result in disqualification.
Boats will be inspected before and during the tournament. Tournament officials will be checking boats at the launch area and patrol boats will be intensively patrolling the fishing area. Contestants must submit to an inspection of their boat upon request of an official or patrol boat. Refusal to allow an inspection will result in disqualification.
Boats observed by a patrol boat out of bounds will be disqualified.
PENALTY: Zero (0) weight for the day
The maximum number of fish allowed in the live well is three (3). If more than three (3) fish are found in the live well, zero (0) weight for the day will be recorded.
Fin weights must be removed from all fish in the live well prior to judging.
Any fish deemed to be unreleasable by weigh-in officials will be subject to a penalty of zero (0) weight.
A fished deemed to be a protected slot by the weighmaster will result in zero (0) weight for the day.
Contestants who return late will receive zero (0) weight for the day and be disqualified from big fish pool.
All rules have “loopholes”. It is the intention of the sponsor to provide an honest sportsmanlike tournament. In the interest of good sportsmanship, contestants are reminded that “spirit of the rule” will prevail in all judgement cases.
