Well, another successful year is in the books! The weekend went well with beautiful weather, lots of fish and some very happy teams. Over $120,000 was handed out on Saturday afternoon.
Congratulations to our winners, Brian Dygdala and Bob Schlosser, for winning the bonus tournament and collecting $30,800 and also winning overall to collect another $7500.
Day 1 winners were Greg Gessner and Steve Brasseur taking home $3,000. Day 2 winners were Don Sahli and Rylan Sahli also taking home $3,000 for their efforts.
Mixed team champions, Dave Bouclin and Jen Morgans, received a trolling motor courtesy of Thomas Motors. Dave and Jen also received the Les Folden Memorial award for finishing first in this category. The Cabela's package went to the second place mixed team of Gene and Mona Sholter.
Junior champions were Jason and Mitchell Flegel receiving reels donated by Nipawin Chrysler Dodge and the second place junior team of Billy and Laken Fleming received a package from the fishin' hole.
There is a link on this site with the results in PDF form to view all the winners.
A total of 1258 fish were caught over the two days and our mortality rate was less than 3%. The teams did a great job of keeping the fish alive this year. Thank you for that.
We had a great team of volunteers and weighed out the boats in record time on Saturday afternoon. Without the volunteers this tournament would not happen and we thank everyone that came and helped out.
Also, thank you to our sponsors. We appreciate all that you do for us and hope you stay on board for many years to come.
Now that 2016 is over it will be time to start planning for next year. We will be celebrating our 30th year which is very exciting for us! Who knew 29 years ago this tournament would be still up and running and stronger than ever.
Again, thank you to everyone who made this a very successful year for us. See you next year!
The Saskatchewan Premier's Walleye Cup is one of this province's flagship fishing tournaments and one of the largest walleye events in Canada. The Premier's Walleye Cup is a two day, live release tournament, with proceeds going back to the preservation of the lake resources and development of the lake facilities. Welcome to the official site of the Premier's Cup.
The 2016 Premier's Cup will kick off on Thursday, August 4, 2016 with the Premier's Cup Boat Parade on Main Street, where the year's competitors will have an opportunity to show off their boats. Each year prizes are awarded for the best boats, and competitors are encouraged to decorate and, literally, "showboat". The high caliber of competitors and equipment in the Premier’s Walleye Cup has made this parade a popular local event.
Registration for the tournament begins at 4:00 PM at the Evergreen Centre, followed by the rules banquet at 6:00 PM. All competitors are required to both register and attend the banquet.
Listed on this site are the forms, rules, cash prizes, special prizes, entry fee, and brochure for the 2016 Premier's Walleye Cup.
