Pranav Suresh Puthan

I am a postdoctoral researcher at General atomics (ORISE program). My research spans across multiple disciplines : Environmental fluid mechanics, air-sea interactions, high performance computing and deep learning.

I received my PhD in University of California, San Diego in the field of Physical Oceanography and Fluid Mechanics at UCSD CFD Lab under the guidance of Prof. Sutanu Sarkar. I was co-advised by Prof. Geno Pawlak. The PhD thesis focused on internal waves and wake generation associated  with tide-topography interactions in the ocean. Parametric studies were performed on a stratified flow past a three-dimensional axisymmetric topography to discover the underlying physics. During my undergrad, I developed an Incompressible Multiphase Flow solver using Meshless Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics technique under the guidance of Prof. Prasad Patnaik (Dept. of Applied Mechanics, IIT Madras).
