Welcome to the site for The Class of 1961, who attended Cohn High School in Nashville, TN. You might remember me. I’m Bill Pomeroy and like so many others from West Nashville, I’m a proud Alumnus of Cohn High School. The idea to prepare this site came to me in thinking about our 50th Class Reunion coming-up in August 2011. I wanted to do something to recognize a special class from a unique school. It’s amazing that so many members of our class of 1961 have stayed in touch and know so much about the lives of one another. Sure ‘Facebook’ has made it easier today, but our classmates relied on the “Redmond Press” to stay connected all these years …. we still do.
How many High Schools have an Alumni Center in their old school building ? Well, Cohn does! Our Class of ’61 will gather there on August 26th to talk about old times and get ready for our 50th Reunion. The reunion will be held on Saturday night August 27, 2011 at the Holiday Inn across from Vanderbilt University. Many of our 136 graduates & their significant others will attend to celebrate life and to catch-up on current events & old stories.
To help us recall some of those high school days I have scanned our class Annual – “The Tiger 1961” extracting various photos which can be viewed by selecting an item highlighted in the navigation bar. I have also included a modified PPT photo album presented at our 45th class reunion by Bobby Strickland. This album plus many more photos & lots of info are available on this website. A special thanks to Howard Wayne Morrison (my adopted brother / brother-in-law) and a 1961 Cohn classmate.
I am including a links page in the navigation bar that you might enjoy visiting. Many of the photos & music can be credited to Bobby, Wayne, or Bud Crowell, another close friend & classmate known by most as Raymond or Ray.
To my dear classmate, Judy Redmond, I extend my sincere appreciation for her timeless dedication to keep our classmates informed on a personal level. To the members of the 50th Class Reunion Committee I thank you for all your hard work which all of us who attend the reunion will appreciate immensely.
Let us remember always our 27 classmates who left this earth too soon. May they rest in peace.
