Architectural Heritage Center (AHC).

My research on Portland's apartment history began in 2013 when I was invited by the Architectural Heritage Center, Portland, to make a presentation, either a reprise of a former presentation or another topic of my choice.  I opted for a new topic, Portland apartment history, inspired by Diana James' Shared Walls: Seattle Apartment Buildings, 1900-1939 (McFarland, 2012)My first Powerpoint was repeated twice thereafter because of its popularity.  At each presentation I was encouraged to expand upon and publish on this subject. After wrestling with an appropriate publishing venue for content that would expand and revise over time, I chose the convenience of Google Sites.   This web publication substantially builds upon my initial efforts and provides a source for others to employ for research and study.  I appreciate the opportunity the AHC provides researchers to present to its dedicated audience some very specialized topics.

The freely available Historic Oregon Newspapers digital collection created by the UO Libraries enables the discovery of new information exceedingly difficult in the past.

Marion Dean Ross Chapter, Society of Architectural Historians.

The SAH Marion Dean Ross Chapter and its inspiring members have provided many opportunities for network and research including an annual conference in one of the Pacific Northwest's unique locations.  The knowledge of Oregon architecture shared by veteran members Elisabeth Walton Potter and Leland Roth is much valued.  The online archives of the chapter can be accessed the University of Oregon digital repository, Scholars' Bank.
