Google’s Fresh Puzzle Game in Daily Games
Google has quietly introduced a brand new puzzle experience called Color Tiles, available directly inside Search through the Daily Games platform. Unlike the classic Doodle re-releases such as Pac-Man or Cricket, this is a modern, original puzzle designed to be quick, clever, and highly replayable.
At its core, Color Tiles is a grid-based logic puzzle. Players use the arrow keys (or swipes on mobile) to slide all free tiles in one direction at once. The goal is simple: group four matching tiles together. When four identical tiles connect, they vanish from the board, clearing space and moving you closer to the next stage.
Each level comes with a limited number of moves, displayed clearly at the bottom of the screen. Once you run out, the round ends. With 20 levels per challenge, the game tests both foresight and efficiency.
What makes Color Tiles especially interesting is its daily structure. At the end of a session you’ll see how many of the 20 levels you managed to beat, followed by the message: “Play again or come back tomorrow for a new challenge.” This suggests that Google refreshes the puzzles daily, turning the game into a routine brain teaser rather than a one-off distraction.
Simple rules, deep play: Sliding everything at once forces you to think about the entire board, not just a single tile.
Clear objectives: Match groups of four, survive the move limit, and push as far as possible.
Bite-sized design: Each session takes only a few minutes, making it perfect for short breaks.
Social sharing: At the end of a run, players can instantly share their results, encouraging friendly competition.
Google Color Tiles may look unassuming, but beneath its clean visuals lies a sharp little puzzle that rewards planning and quick adaptation. It’s easy to learn in a single glance, yet difficult to master across 20 carefully tuned levels. As one of the first original titles in Google’s Daily Games, it hints that the company might be exploring a future where Search doubles as a home for casual, recurring puzzles.
