The Polygon Hash was formed on 8th December 1981 as an antidote to the all male hashes (Dhekelia and Episkopi) that had already been formed on the island by servicemen/civilians from the British bases. Consequently, it was the first hash in Cyprus to openly welcome families to participate in the great traditions of 'The Hash'. The Polygon welcomes all to join them on a Thursday for a run, jog or walk, and lasts for just enough time (generally an hour), to build up a thirst for one or two 'cold ones'. The 'run' (term used for run, jog or walk), is laid in flour or marked in chalk by the 'hares' the architects of the run. Normally 2 trails are laid, one for the runners and one for the walkers. The trails meet at a 'check' (a circle of flour), and everybody gathers together before setting off to look for the trail again. After the run we drink beer, wine, water, fruit juices followed by the Hash circle. Occasionally after the circle hashers will meet at a local taverna for some food ..... and maybe some more beer !!!
We meet at locations generally within 15 miles of the Larnaca area and frequently out to Ayia Napa and to the border near Famagusta.
Winter runs commence at 4pm, summer at 6pm and spring & autumn at 5pm. Details of the next run can be found by clicking on 'Next run' above or on any one of the pictures in the header above.
Current hash fees are €4 per person and €1 for children up to 10.
In 2011 the Polygon Hash celebrated its 30th birthday with a special run, T-shirt and party afterwards.
