This is the diagram for placing decals. Please check photographs of the actual aircraft from Edwards AFB for detailed placement of markings and painting. This is just a rough guide to painting.
Some of the decals cross areas of white and red paint. You can deal with these in two ways:
● Use the decals you printed on clear decal paper and paint the white parts beneath them.
This is a more difficult, but will probably have better results. I have included templates for creating masks for those
● Use the optional template for white decal paper. Cut out the decals to remove the red areas on the sheet and place the decals on the model.
This is easier, although it includes some detailed cutting of the decal sheets. The problem is that most white decal papers are not totally opaque, and you will likely see some of the colors beneath the decal.

Usually the aircraft has no pylons installed or only a centerline pylon with a fuel tank. Occasionally it may have the fuel tank wing pylons with fuel tanks, or optionally it may have the middle wing pylons and a cargo pod on the port wing pylon (the starboard wing pylon is empty in this case). There may be a single captive Sidewinder on one wing launcher.
