Academic Profile

I am a Full Professor of Finance at the School of Economics and Management, University of Porto (FEP), Portugal, and a researcher at the Centre for Economics and Finance (CEF.UP). My teaching activities span undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programmes, with a particular focus on Corporate Finance and Real Options.

I serve as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control. I have also held several academic leadership positions at FEP, including Director of the Doctoral Programme in Business and Management Studies (2023–2026) and Director of the Master's Programme in Finance (2011–2019).

I obtained my Habilitation (Agregação) in Management from the University of Porto in 2018 and my PhD in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Minho in 2006.

Research Interests & Publications

My research focuses on Real Options Theory, Investment under Uncertainty, and Continuous-Time Dynamic Models in Corporate Finance, with particular emphasis on the theoretical analysis of firms' investment and financing decisions under uncertainty.

My research has been published in leading international academic journals, including the Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, European Journal of Operational Research, European Financial Management, Journal of Business Research, Economics Letters, The European Journal of Finance, and Quantitative Finance, among others.
