The Kennebec Sturgeons joined the Pine Tree Baseball League in 2021. The team calls Varnum Field in Bath their home. Manager Tyler Rose is committed to creating a professional baseball environment for Sturgeons players and fans alike. Sturgeons Baseball Network, a live audio broadcast followed by a full game video version of all Sturgeons home games, was started in 2022. Fans can listen live on the team's Facebook page as UMaine sports broadcaster and Portland Sea Dogs camera operator Jonah Smith handles the play-by-play with local baseball scholar/comedian Matt Belanger and long-time area baseball coach Bob Neron doing the color commentary. Video versions of the games are played afterwards on the team's Facebook page as well as the Bath Local Access Channel.
The club has also focused their efforts on improving their community. In 2022, the Sturgeons fundraised for the purchase of a new outfield fence on Varnum Field, which the team shares with Bath Middle School and the local Babe Ruth League. Within two months enough money was raised to complete the project. The team also collects donations during each home game's 5th inning for charities. In 2023, the Sturgeons raised $300 for Dream Factory Portland, an organization grants dreams for chronically ill children.
