I'm interested in understanding why a plant species is found in a particular habitat. For doing so, a species must overcome different abiotic and biotic filters, and the strategy to do it is the focus of my research.
In the last years I became engaged with the question of how some exotic species, evolved in remote regions, under different selective pressures, managed to make their way to our ecosystems, and some of them, even, become extremely successful invaders. Besides, I'm interested in understanding how the settlement of an alien species in an ecosystem alters its functioning.
