Cat Stevens: Works

Morning Has Broken is a popular Christian hymn first published in 1931. It is based on a traditional Scottish Gaelic tune known as "Bunessan", and its lyrics were written by English author Eleanor Farjeon, inspired by the village of Alfriston in East Sussex, England. Cat Stevens included a popular version of Morning Has Broken on his 1971 album Teaser and the Firecat, and the song eventually became identified with Stevens, especially in the United States and Canada. The familiar piano arrangement on Stevens' recording was composed and performed by Rick Wakeman, a classically trained keyboardist best known for his work with the English progressive rock band Yes.

Written by Cat Stevens, Wild World is a song first released on his 1970 album Tea for the Tillerman. A hit in the United States and the United Kingdom, the song has been covered by many artists, including Bette Midler and José Feliciano.
