Love Story (Where Do I Begin)
Composed by Francis Lai, Love Story was originally an instrumental theme in the 1970 film Love Story. After the theme became popular, Carl Sigman provided lyrics. His version is called Where Do I Begin?.
The Andy Williams recording of Where Do I Begin? was a big hit, and the recordings of Love Story for full orchestra by Francis Lai and Henry Mancini were very successful. There have been many covers, including a Romanian one by Aurelian Andreescu, and a French one by Mireille Mathieu.
The theme from Love Story is the only theme in history to have three versions in the Top 40 at the same time (February of 1971): Henry Mancini’s Love Story (#14), Francis Lai's Love Story (#33), and Andy Williams’ Where Do I Begin? (#35).
