Walc Barbary

Composed by Waldemar Kazanecki, Walc Barbary (Barbara's Waltz) is a waltz from Noce i Dnie (Nights and Days), a Polish movie released in 1975 and based on Polish writer Maria Dabrowska's novel with the same name.

Described by The Washington Post as "Poland's Gone With the Wind", the movie, an epic family drama, was nominated for the 1976 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. For her performance in the movie, Jadwiga Barańska won the Berlin International Film Festival's 1976 Silver Bear For Best Actress award.

A composer, pianist, and conductor, Waldemar Kazanecki (1929 - 1991) was a music editor on Polskie Radio (Polish Radio) and a pianist in the Jerzy Harald Orchestra. He composed numerous scores for movies and television, including the complete score for Noce i Dnie.
