Vivaldi The Four Seasons

Among the most popular pieces of baroque music, The Four Seasons (Le quattro stagioni) is a set of four violin concertos composed by Antonio Vivaldi in 1723. Each concerto is named and modeled for one of the seasons. One of the earliest concertos ever written, The Four Seasons helped to define that form. As of 2011, approximately 1,000 recorded versions had been made.

Nicknamed "il Prete Rosso" ("The Red Priest") because of his red hair, Antonio Vivaldi (1678 - 1741) was an Italian composer, violinist, and priest. One of the greatest baroque composers, he is known mainly for composing instrumental concertos, especially for the violin, as well as sacred choral works, and over forty operas. His best known work is The Four Seasons.
